David

acrílico + óleo sobre canvas100 × 100 cm2025
This work is deeply personal, born from a period of intense preparation and fear as I faced a daunting legal battle for my children's future. I chose David because, like him, I felt small and vulnerable against a much larger opponent who initially held all the power. Painting this piece, I wanted the viewer to feel that if they touched the canvas, they would feel the cold, wet sensation of the marble. This grayscale rendering represents that heavy weight of the struggle and the fear I was feeling. However, the vibrant neon green "UNDERDOG" sign and gestural marks represent the moment I chose to believe in myself. It symbolizes the internal fire and strength I had to pull from within to turn the tables and emerge victorious. By reclaiming this classical symbol of triumph, I am documenting my own journey from intimidation to power. This piece is a tribute to anyone facing a "Goliath" in their own life—a reminder that even if you are the underdog, your strength can be a force of nature.
