Rebirth of Venus

acrylic + oil on canvas100 × 120 cm2025
In this work, I sought to bring the aesthetic and moral values of the Renaissance into the present day, viewing them through a sharp, contemporary lens. By reimagining Botticelli’s "The Birth of Venus," I am not just revisiting a masterpiece; I am questioning the expected role of women in today’s society. I wanted to analyze how these historical ideals of beauty and virtue translate—or clash—with our modern reality. Through the use of expressive graffiti lines and a vibrant, urban color palette, I strip the goddess of her traditional museum context and place her in the middle of a modern dialogue. The contrast between her classical grace and the raw, gestural background reflects the internal struggle between inherited expectations and the desire for self-definition. To me, this piece is a reflection on how we carry the weight of history while trying to carve out a new space for the female identity.
